Migration Manager Software Update (Version 8.4.2)


A software update has been released to all users that includes ongoing updates and fixes for the 1 July changes as well as addressing a bug affecting some users after a recent Microsoft Update

What is included in this Update 

As we reported in our last article, the team at Migration Manager have been hard at work updating the program and the questionnaires to handle all of the changes released by the Department of Immigration on 1 July. Update 8.4.2 of the program is a continuation of the release of these fixes whilst also including a number of other improvements and bug fixes (including addressing a particularly nasty one that has arisen due to a recent update released by Microsoft for Office).

This update (Program Version 8.4.2) contains the following:

  • Accounts
    • Fixed a bug preventing the viewing and printing of previously created Deposit requests
    • Fixed an issue with UTC affecting the date shown in the client account view for some users
    • Fixed an issue where the Trust Account cashbook payment Report not showing bank account details correctly for EFT rows
    • Fixed an issue affecting the Trust Statement Report filter options and results
    • Fixed an issue where the Client Account receipt was including extra information only required by Trust Account users
    • Modified the Fee Performance Report to exclude time entries that still had the timer running against
    • Fixed an issue where invoices invoiced to and paid by a sponsor where not showing as paid in the table for some users
  • Client Details and Documents
    • Added the New Zealand Stream option to the Subclass 189 Visas
    • Fixed an issue that resulted in multiple message boxes appearing if you closed a file that was connected to the Portal
    • Fixed an error which was occurring for some users when clicking the Lookup ABN hyperlink in Sponsor matters
    • Fixed an issue which affected the conversion of multiple Word Document in to separate PDFs
    • Fixed a bug affecting the changing of the view between Applicant and Sponsor tabs
    • Modified the behaviour of the progress items tab such that focus now remains on an item when marking it as complete and attaching a document instead of setting focus on the top item
    • United Nations added as option in the Country field for passports
  • Emails & Document Inbox
    • When manually adding an email to the Email To window it will now automatically insert the ; so that outlook recognises the email address
    • Arrow keys now work when trying to scroll for emails in Document Inbox
  • eLodge
    • Release of fixes for 1 July changes (most of the visa types should now be filling out correctly, but if you find an issue please do let us know – note that we will shortly be releasing an updated Questionnaire which contains new fields for all of the 457 Sponsorship and Nomination changes)
  • File Notes
    • File note headings are now UTF8 compatible
  • Portal
    • Modified the Portal website so that all dates are formatted the same
    • Improved the handling of the messages which show in Migration Manager when a user tries to activate the Portal for a matter where no RMA has been appointed
    • Increased the amount of time the program will keep trying to upload a document before reporting an error (for those who have poor internet connections)
  • Questionnaires
    • Added an option to the CIQ button in Migration Manager for Sports Activity
  • Reports
    • Fixed an issue where reports was unable to filter by today’s date in certain scenarios
  • Other
    • Modified the behaviour of the of the Progress Items template window such that if you edit an item in the grid, the window no longer returns you to the top of the screen
    • Fix for users affected by a recent update to Microsoft Office which was causing an error in Migration Manager
    • The New matter window now sorts by the MatterID by default
    • Fixed an issue that prevented some users from being able to log a support call
    • Other fixes and improvements

How to Perform the Update

When you are ready to perform the update, you should login as the Administrator and then click on the Help menu and then click Online Update. For full instructions on how to perform the update, please see: How to Perform an Update.


When the update window opens click the ‘Start’ button and then follow any prompts. We do recommend that you do a full update and download the latest DIBP forms from Legendcom/immiAccount as DIBP has recently released a number of Form changes
